How did Judas die?
Question: How did Judas die? Matthew 27:5 says that Judas went away and hung himself, but Acts 1:18 says that he fell headlong and burst open in the middle. Which is true?
Answer: Both are correct. Apparently when Judas hung himself, the rope loosened and he slipped through it. His body fell to the rocks below and "he burst open in the middle and his bowels gushed out" (Acts 1:18). When both passages are taken together, we get the complete account of what happened to Judas.
